D.h. es gibt doch einige Faktoren, die bestimmen, ob man eher den Tod auf den Schienen den Vorzug gibt. Bestimmte Altersgruppen sind vorherrschend (junge Männer zwischen 15-40 Jahren) und die Schwere der Erkrankung scheint auch Einfluss zu nehmen. Menschen mit Depressionen scheinen auch einen Hang zu Schienenselbstmord zu haben; insbesondere dann, wenn der Kandidat akut suizidal ist.
